Plantation Field Audit Manager
Job Summary:
This position reports both to the Managing Director of the plantation and the Audit Committee (or in its absence the Board of Directors) of the Company. The Field Audit Manager helps ensure that the company adheres to laws, regulations, and management directives; promotes orderly, economical, efficient, and effective operations and achieves planned outcomes; safeguards resources against fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement; provides quality products and services consistent with the organization’s mission; develops and maintains reliable financial and management information and fairly discloses that data through timely reporting.
The Field Audit Manager will have to recruit and build-up his team.
The candidate must be willing to work in Indonesia, including but not limited to Kalimantan and Sumatra.
Substantial travelling is expected for this position.
Major Duties:
• Maintain independence in fact and appearance at all times.
• Recruit and ensure professional competence of audit staff and set up the audit team in accordance with the needs of the operations.
• Advise management on areas at risk, recommendations to eliminate / mitigate such risks, and thereafter follow up.
• Establish auditing strategic plans and goals.
• Prepare risks based annual audit plan, allocate resources to cover the operations of the unit spread out throughout a large geographical area. This would include the need to prepare budget for the field audits and management of cost in accordance with set / agreed budgets.
• Perform audits of operations, including estates
• Evaluate information technology systems.
• Create a positive control environment by setting a positive ethical tone, providing guidance for proper behavior, removing temptations for unethical behavior, providing discipline when appropriate, preparing a written code of conduct for employees.
• Ensure that personnel have and maintain a level of competence to perform their duties.
• Recommend appropriate organization and design structure for the business unit, including lines of reporting, authority and responsibility in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and operations as appropriate.
• Recommend management control policies and procedures that are based on management’s analysis of risk with the operations as appropriate.
• Collaborate and work with the agronomists (or appropriate department) to audit and assess the development and management of the palms. Where appropriate to source for external experts to assist in this area of audit.
• Use training, management communications, and day-to-day actions of managers at all levels to reinforce the importance of management control.
• Monitor the organization’s control operations through annual assessments and reports to top management
• Recommend ways to improve operations and strengthen controls.
• Follow up to ensure recommendations are fully and effectively implemented.
• Collaborate with the finance (or such other appropriate department) to coordinate the audit activities with external auditors.
• Implement an audit quality assurance system.
Desired Education/Experience for Hiring:
A college degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage but is not mandatory. This position requires at least eight to ten years of increasingly responsible related experience and at least four years of Audit Management level in the plantation industry. Must possess strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to meet goals and deadlines. Must be Independent, proactive and possess good leadership skills. Must be open to Travel. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia (or Bahasa Malaysia) is preferred.
